Is It Typical To Notice Myelocytes And Metamyelocytes In Blood Smear Of A Pregnant Woman?

Hi, I am a medical laboratory technician and evaluated a patient who is pregnant under a blood smear. I noticed a shift to the left in the neutrophil count. Now I know it is typical to see many band forms of neutrophils, but I also noticed a few myelocytes and metamyelocytes, is this typical?

Hi. This is normal in pregnancy. There can be leucocytosis with shift to left in neutrophil series and this premature form- myelocytes and metamyelocytes can be normally seen ,sometimes even without leucocytosis.
Thanks.
