Is It Serious If Having Genital Herpes, Shingles And Passed It On To The Partner?
i have genital herpes. I passed it to my ex partner. He contacted me as he has been having outbreaks for about 4 months now with no break. The dr has treated him with anti virals but he has a rash that his dr said is shingles and part of the herpes condition. I am concerned that this has gone on for so long and something more should be done. I am also concerned, should I be worried about my health? I am taking suppressive treatment Acicolovir every day, as I have an outbreak once per month Thank you. I am very concerned
Even though both Herpes Simplex and Shingles are caused by Herpes group of virus, both are entirely different virus. HSV 2 is a sexually transmitted disease where Shingles is not so. Shingles is not so infectious and nothing to worry much. Suppressive therapy with Acyclovir for Herpes infection offers adequate protection for both HSV and Shingles. Wishes for your partner to get well soon. Dr S.Murugan
