Is It Safe To Have Unprotected Sex During IVF Cycle?

I am currently doing an IVF cycle and was told by my doctor that my follicles are shrinking after 11 days of hormone injections. He told me to do the HCG trigger shot last night and to have intercourse the day of and the day after the shot. Is it safe to have unprotected sex, the doc did not say one way or the other. Not sure why he would suggest this.

Hello and welcome,

It is safe and also recommended to have unprotected sex as it may be possible that the sperm may fertilize the ovum naturally after the sexual episode. So please go ahead and follow your doctors directions.

Best of luck and may you conceive soon.

Hope this satisfies your query.
