Is It Necessary To Have Tetanus If Someone Got Scratched By A Rusty Metal Door ?

Hi my 8yr old daughter got scratched by a rusty metal door. Its not deep but it does hurt and now she has diarrhea . Should I be concerned that she may have tetanus

If you have given her the 5 years' booster dose of DPT in some form or the other, you should not worry about tetanus. In any case, rusting items don't cause tetanus. It is an infection caused by a germ known as C. tetani. You can check this out on www.emedicine.com, or on MD Consult.
