Is Generic Brand Of Bupropion Hcl Xl As Effective As Name Brand?
Bupropion hcl xl 150 anchen I am concerned about whether or not the generic brand is as effective as the name brand. I wouldn t have thought anything of it until I began researching the drug and found that, that has been an issue with alot of people switching from brand to generic.I have just started taking it so I wouldn t know the difference until I have had both and that is my concern. I understand that alot of the generic problem was with the manufacturer teva and the extended release side of the pill. Just want a doctors perspective. Also I was wondering why my dosage starts out taking one 150 a day for two weeks then two a day there after? I am guessing that its just to ease me into it, but I just want to be clear on why it was prescribed like that?

In theory, there is no difference between generic and branded medications. All medications should have the same ingredients and the same quantity of ingredients. Sometimes there may be differences though. That's why changing from one brand to the other may cause - usually minor - trouble for patients with critical disorders. I believe that the vast majority of patients won't notice any real difference when changing from a branded medication to a generic one.
The quality standards may be different between companies though and most doctors usually trust some generics more than others. The recommended dosage (for extended-release formulations) is 150mg once a day for a few days and 150mg twice a day thereafter. This is common practice for many similar medications. Sometimes patients may need some time to adjust to the dosage or they may experience side effects.
