Is Complete Hysterectomy, A Correct Option For Terrible Endometriosis And Autoimmune Issues?

Hi there, I have terrible endometriosis. I also have many autoimmune issues, but otherwise am healthy... Still, each year to 2 years (I am now age 30) I have to get a laproscopic ablation... Before that time/ at the time when the endo/adeno raises it s head... I lose 30-40 lbs, can t eat (affects my digestion,) affects my moods, and I bleed a lot and have huge fibroids about the size of my hand. I m too sensitive to take lupron/ regular birth control... Have tried almost everything... Makes me bleed for 40 days... causes insane depression... etc. I already have hot flashes and night sweats most days of the week... Recently, I know I need another ablation, but I am tired of them... tired of temporary and risk involved/ side effect filled remedies... I want a complete hysterectomy and have been thinking seriously about it for 4 years. I am adopted myself, and would have no problem adopting. In fact, just the idea that I could have a daughter that might also gets endo, makes me never ever ever want to get pregnant. I have asked 1 surgeon if she would give me a full (ovaries too) hysterectomy, and she was hesitant. I d like to know what State I can go to (or where overseas I can fly) to get a full hysterectomy at my own volition and with proof of doctors records for all of my terrible symptoms. Thanks

Hello and welcome,

I completely understand your problem.
I understand that you have already undergone endometrial ablation repeatedly, so chances of having a pregnancy are extremely low [ ablation destroys the uterine lining and so pregnancy cannot occur]. Also if there are big fibroids then again getting pregnant may be a problem.

So denying a hysterectomy in view of future pregnancies cannot be an issue as fertility is already compromised. The only thing that I could not understand was why a myomectomy was not done [ only removing the fibroids]. It would have helped controlled bleeding and also improved chances of pregnancy.

Removing the ovaries will produce menopausal symptoms and increase the risk of thin bones, signs of ageing, heart disease and blood pressure to a small extent.

Here at my set up, we give hysterectomy as an option if others treatments have failed. It relieves the pain and bleeding. However it is difficult to comment upon the need for surgery unless a complete examination has been performed. Another thing that you must know is that the surgery will not be an easy one considering the adhesions and big fibroids. But final decision can only be commented after an examination. So you will have to make up your mind for that. You can get a full hysterectomy here in India with all documentation. You are welcome to visit my place also if you want to.

Also it would be helpful if you could contact any other doctor there and get a second opinion about the possibilities.

I understand that you have had a lot of trouble and are tired of the repeated therapies.Just get a second opinion and maybe myomectomy may be possible and your symptoms will decrease.
