Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is 13 and has elevated cholesterol levels...total cholesteral is 173 and LDL is 109. Her pediatrician has referred me to a cardiologist. Is this standard for pediatricians to refer this out? They tell me that there is no cause for alarm but I just want to be sure.
Your daughter has only borderline elevated cholesterol. I think that there is nothing to be worried, but you should know that she should follow healthy lifestyle, eat healthy, do sports, and lose weight if she is overweight.
Take care
