Is Biopsy Necessary After Testing Positive On Creatine Phosphokinase Test While Taking Plant Sterol Supplements?

My brother tested positive on his CPK lab work. He was taking plant sterol supplements and switched to Melaleuca supplements which contain higher levels of plant sterols. He is scheduled for a muscle biopsy. He is concerned he won t be able to control his BP without the plant sterols. Do you have any advice and is the biopsy going to be very painful? Thank you

Hi,
A muscle biopsy is one on the simplest procedures and local anesthesia given during the procedure makes it almost painless. Having a high CPK necessitates that a biopsy be performed to know the exact pathological diagnosis.
