Is Zyrtec Safe For A Child?

my 9 year old child has had a nose full of mucous for over 2 months we thought it may be asthma as it is strong in the family, but my Mother gave her 10 mgs of Zyrtec last night and it was amazing she slept all night and asked please could she have it again tonight. Is this safe?

Zyrtec (cetirizine) is used to treat allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching, watery eyes and runny nose. As your child is having the symptoms of nasal fullness due to mucus, this drug is very effective against this symptoms.

This is one of the safest drug and you can give your child till the symptoms subsides and you have to stop later.

You can consult your paediatrician for physical examination and further mode of treatment.
