Is TORCH Test Safe During First Trimester Of Pregnancy?

I was told to undergo TORCH test and found out that this test is costly. I had a stillborn baby on her 8th month 2 yrs ago and probably death of my baby is due to gestational diabetes as what my OB told me, since I got a very high sugar count after series of tests. I don't think I have any infection to date or if I had before, isn't it makes me protected for said infection as I already have antibody of such. Aside from determining antibody titer and positive or negative result form TORCH is it really recommended in my first tri of pregnancy as I am considered high risk due to age (43) and had a case of stillborn delivery. Thanks Btw i'm 5 feet tall and medium built of 110 lbs. Diabetes is common in my family

Hello,
I admire your positive outlook and appreciate your concern..
According to your history and information provided by you, I would like to tell you that TORCH test is important in your case in 1st trimester because these infections commonly cause intrauterine fetal death...also because you had the history of abortion and your age is of 43, this pregnancy is precious and one needs to be proactive to prevent complications..
So I would suggest you to follow your doctor...as you are diabetic, so again its a high risk pregnancy, so take insulin during pregnancy to prevent hyperglycemia...I would also suggest you to regular follow up with your gynec to check fetal wellbeing, BP, sugar,etc...also do ultrasound for fetal anomaly in 2nd trimester...
I hope this much information will be helpful to you...let me know, if you are having any more queries related anything...wishing you best health...
