According to your history and information provided by you, I would like to tell you that TORCH test is important in your case in 1st trimester because these infections commonly cause intrauterine fetal death...also because you had the history of abortion and your age is of 43, this pregnancy is precious and one needs to be proactive to prevent complications.. So I would suggest you to follow your doctor...as you are diabetic, so again its a high risk pregnancy, so take insulin during pregnancy to prevent hyperglycemia...I would also suggest you to regular follow up with your gynec to check fetal wellbeing, BP, sugar,etc...also do ultrasound for fetal anomaly in 2nd trimester...
