Hello,

Its safety during pregnancy has not been fully established and for this reason it is not usually recommended for women who are pregnant or going to be pregnant.

A baby’s body and most internal organs are formed during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. It is mainly during this time that some medicines are known to cause birth defects.

No studies have been done to establish its safety for the growing baby.

However, if your symptoms cannot be controlled in any other way, the use of an antispasmodic in pregnancy might be considered.

When deciding whether or not to take an antispasmodic during pregnancy it is important to weigh up the benefits of use against the known or possible risks, some of which will depend on how many weeks pregnant you are.

You must consult your doctor to see what is right for you and your baby considering your symptoms of IBS.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
