Is Brintellix With Wellbutrin Contraindicated If Taken Together?

My doctor just prescribed the anti-depressant Brintellix - 10mg - once a day. I have been taking one 150mg wellbutrin for one year now, once a day, and as I was reading the side effects, I noticed that Brintellix may have some negative interaction with wellbutrin. My doctor knows that I take wellbutrin but didn't say that I should stop. What do you think?

Hello thanks for asking from HCM

Brintellix is Vortioxetine and this is a newer antidepressant drug. Wellbutrin is bupropion with atypical antidepressant action. You are taking Bupropion for about one year and are on 150 mg doses. You have been recently advised to take Vortioxetine 10 mg per day. Theoretically if we consider metabolism both drugs can interact together but various studies haven't found any significant drug interactions between these drugs. Brintellix will not have any significant interaction with wellbutrin, but slight increase in concentration of Britellix can be observed. Overall it is safe to use these drugs together. Consult a Psychiatrist for any drug related queries.
