Irregular Periods, Have PCOS. Taking Materna And Duoloton. Right Treatment?

Hi,
I am 27 yrs old. I am married. Since my teenage my menstrual cycle is irregular. My periods don't stop. On consultation and performing several tests my Gynecologist confirmed that i do not ovulate due to PCOS. Past 3 months i am taking 4 Materna CC tablets from 2nd day of my periods for 5 days [ total 20 tablets]. For 3 months my periods were regular but in 4th month my periods did not stop even after taking Materna CC tablet. My doctor had adviced me to take Duoluton L tablet for 5th day of my period for 3 months. I ahve already atken this tablet for a month now. My queries are:
1) Is my doctor giving me the right treatment?
2) Is there a way to naturally cure my ovulation problem. I am on medication for so many yrs now and hence have been facing several side effects of medicine.
3) Is is safe to have unprotected sex while i am on Duoluton L tablet ? Given the fact that i was on Materna C tablets some months back to increase my ovulation. I do not want any kids at this point of time. Please suggest

Hello
Thanks for your query.
Firstly, I would like to clear your confusion.
materna CC is given to induce ovulation.
In no way does it correct menstrual irregularities, which are an inherent part of PCOS.
Metformin and weight loss help to control PCOS, but there is no cure as such.
Clomiphene citrate, which you have taken for 4 months, is given when the patient is anxious to conceive, so if you do not want kids, I wonder why you were given the same.
Duoloton taken cyclically also helps in regulating your periods, but it is totally alright to have unprotected sex while on Duoloton, as long as you are prepared for the possibility of pregnancy.
It is not a contraceptive.
Take care.
