Implant In Right Leg Below Knee, Cellulitis Appeared There. Implant Removed, Infected Now. Cure ?
hi,
I had met with an accident in 2006 and my right leg had a single fracture in both the bones below the knee. Was operated and implant was done to support the bones. After 6 years, there appeared a redness and when i consulted my Doctor he confirmed it was cellutis. I was operated again and an implant from one of bone was removed. But a few months back the same symptoms were repeated and the doctor said it was infection again.. i am taking antibotics now but the reason for the same is not yet confirmed. Please do advise. X-rays show no signs of infection..

Generally, implant related infections will resolve with implant removal followed by appropriate antibiotic coverage for a prescribed time.
To confirm an infection in the same bone, you need to undergo a few blood tests like ESR, C-reactive protein, WBC count etc. If xrays show no signs of infection, then either MRI scan or a Bone scan will pick up an infective focus in the bone.
