cough may be due to multiple reasons.It may be due to respiratory tract infection.You said that you had had an x-ray done .But u havent mentioned what was diagnosed.
Your doctor will prescribe you a cough syrup and antibiotics if its a infection or treat you according to your diagnosis.
Better if you go for homoeopathic treatment.It will give you a quick and permanent cure.

Hi, thanks for the query.Allergy and or smoking may be the main reason.Quit smoking and the problem may disappear. Avoid Icecream and cold drinks. You will need a small dose of brochodilator to be taken at night along with simple non addicting cough syrup like Koflet. You have not mentioned X Ray findings. If it shows Chronic bronchitis, you will need bronchodilator . Discuss thid with your doctor,
