How To Treat Dysmenorrhea?

Hi, I suffer from dysmenorrhea. I recently had a pelvic exam and ultrasounds. My results were normal from the ap smear. The transvaginal ultrasound showed mild thickened endometrium. I had the ultrasound performed the day after my cycle ended. I my cycle lasts 4 days. I am 26, never pregnant. What should i be concerned about? Will this make my chance for pregnancy decreased? I m abstinence until marriage. My doctor started me on birth control for painful periods (lutera). I m over weight by about 20lbs, otherwise healthy, no other meds or problems. Thanks.

Hi,

Dysmenorrhea does not decrease the chances of getting pregnant and it's a good decision to practice abstinence till you get married. Pain can by controlled by Mefenemic acid or Paracetamol with a prescription from your GP. Hot water fermentation also helps. Find ways to handle the pain. Take rest during menstruation and take pain medication only if you need. Otherwise there is no cause of concern here.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
