Sounds to me as if you may have a legitimate reason for surgical intervention, however, I would really need to read your radiograph reports to more fully understand the complexity of your situation. Also, can you secure any of the consultation reports from any of the neurosurgeons you've seen thus far? There is no way you can obligate any doctor to offer a specific type of treatment...even if it seems justified and reasonable to the patient or another doctor. It is the responsibility and liability of the doctor undertaking the procedure therefore, it has to be their decision. Arachnoid cysts are typically felt to be benign and present since childbirth. For that reason most neurologists and neurosurgeons are very hands off doing anything when they are found in the brain or spinal cord. However, in this situation, if there are significant numbers of lesions, and if they are causing visible or measurable mass effect in the brain and can be shown to be actually compressing or squeezing important brain structures or obstructing the flow of CSF then, a very compelling circumstance can be argued to exist which would invoke surgical intervention. Please upload what I've asked for to: www.bit.ly/drdariushsaghafi and I'll be happy to look at the reports and give you an opinion as to what they mean and whether or not surgery seems reasonable. Cheers!
