How To Stop Prolonged Periods While Having Fibroid In Uterus?
Hi I am 48 years old and have been diagnosed with Graves disease treated with carbimazole for 2 years and have been off this medication for about j4 months now. For the past 7 months I have had very heavy (soaking through a tampon and pad every 15 to 30 minutes, prolonged periods (up to 16 days at a time). I went for a scan and was told that I have a 4cm fibroid and my doctor has told me I need to have a Mirena inserted to stop the bleeding. Is there any other treatment availabel. Should I have had a blood test done for hormones first? I am due to have the Mirena fitted in 2 weeks time.
Hello dear I understand your concern Prolonged period is not normal in your case. No nned to go for reproductive hormone analysis. Your prolonges period is due to fibroid. You can take any prepeartion that contain progesterone like mirena, provera shot. GNRH agonist can be useful. But if not responds to drugs then only treatment is surgical excision. Maintain proper pelvic hygiene, eat healthy diet with iron supplements, drink plenty of water Hope this may help you
