Menstrual irregularities and weight gain indicate hormonal disturbance in the body. There is a possibility of underactive thyroid, for which you must get yourself tested (T3, T4 and TSH tests for thyroid functioning). If thyroid is working normally, then you must consult a gynaecologist as it can be due to imbalance of female sex hormones, oestrogen and progesterone levels.
