Three weeks ago I went to my OB to remove my IUD. After checking through ultrasound it was embedded in the uterine wall. My Ob arranged to have a tysterography two weeks later it was no longer there. Again another ultrasound it is now in my lower stomach ..." Aim in a lot of pain like a really period and the need to pee all the time. My OB arranged to have surgery remove the IUD in three weeks. My question is can this cause any other problems and should I see another Dr for a second opinion
Hi, thanks for writing.. This is a very rare situation were the IUD has perforated through the uterine wall into the lower stomach.. if you have any doubt get a repeat scan or xray abdomen to see the position of the IUD.. Only option if it is in the lower abdomen is laproscopic removal of the IUD at the earliest.. This can cause infection if left in the abdomen.. You need to take a course of antibiotics after the surgery..Hope I have answered your query.. Good day
