How to make people, stop drinking alcohol completely? What should be done?

hello doctor, my husband is addicted to alcohol consumption for the last 5 years, in the earlier days he used to drink quarter a day, but slowly he increased his dosage, now he is drinking full bottle a day. one year back i used some homeopathic deaddiction medicines for three months. at that time his capacity is reduced, after drinking one peg he used to sleep. after using that medicines for three months I stopped giving that medicines to him. His capacity again increased. Now everyday he is drinking full bottle. suggest answer doctor How can I make him stop drinking alcohol completely.

I understand that it can be very distressing to deal with a family member who is addicted to alcohol. Since you say that his drinking is currently daily and excessive, it is important to seek professional help as early as possible. There are several forms of help available to deal with his addiction problems. However, his motivation and efforts are important to achieve success.

There are counselling techniques like Motivational Enhancement Therapy which can help improve his motivation and quit. There are also relapse prevention strategies which he can be taught to prevent going back to these substances. Medication may also be required to treat the withdrawal symptoms, medical complications as well as to reduce craving. So, please take him to a psychiatrist or a de-addiction centre in your place for further treatment.
