Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Target treatment should not be to lower esr, it should be to make complete diagnosis and treatment.

However, as raised esr is concerned it is due to a lot of conditions just reflecting a inflammatory response of body.

Get the complete arthritis profile of your father done which includes
-X-rays of the affected part
-Hgm
-CRP
-thyroid profile
-serum vitamin D levels
-RA factor
-Anticcp
-ANA
-serum uric acid.

Once you get the exact diagnosis then target the disease to be controlled or cured. ESR will automatically revert to normal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
