How To Get Rid Of Lumpy Mass On Top Of My Right Ankle Bone?

Lumpy mass on top of right ankle bone, Been there abt a month. No injury to it. Just appeared. Can squeeze the mass and it feels a little like pus or even like a giant spider bite would be. But it doesn t go down. Not real inflated, but painful if I forget and lay on that side. Put pressure on it and it is Really sore. Ankle bone area looks red. No oozing. No fever or other symptons. 60 yrs. old. On my feet from 3:30 am to 5pm at Food service job daily. Healthy and active otherwise.Female,

Hi! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query. From your history and your job of on your feet for such a long period, the first diagnosis which comes to my mind is a varicose vein of your leg, even though it could be confirmed only after a physical examination. If I were your doctor, I would advise you for a Doppler ultrasound of both lower limb vessels, which could diagnose a varicose vein. However, it could be a bursa ( a kind of benign cyst)of the ankle due to some kind of continuous pressure over the ankle. If this is diagnosed, then avoidance of pressure might reduce of it of its own. Further management would depend on the diagnosis made. Till then you could go for an anti inflammatory drug along with a proton pump inhibitor for a symptomatic relief.
