How To Determine Blood Flow And Heart Blockage?

I am scheduled for a Nuclear Profusion test - after my stress/treadmill test showed - or my understanding of it - a less than full blip on the upper row of one of the pages of the EKG and after my bp went to 200. I felt fine the whole time. I assume this next test is to see the heart muscle image - question: is this to determine blood flow to the heart - or see any blockage problems - If problems, does this usually mean blockage, valve problem, and is surgery or medicine usually indicated when... etc. I have had an aortic valve insufficiency from birth - always told it was minor .

Hello
Welcome to HCM
Thanks for posting your query. I understand your concerns. Nuclear perfusion imaging also called myocardial perfusion scanning is done to see the blood flow to your heart at rest and after exercise or stress which is induced by giving the drug called dipyrdamole.

This test help to rule out any coronary disease.

After doing this test, if blood flow to part of the heart is less, it means there is a blockade somewhere in the coronary vessels. The line of management will be decided after seeing the extent of blockade.

Hope you are happy with the answer.
Thank you
