My mother was diagnosed with shingles in the mouth about 1.5 years ago. They said there were shots that would help, but they had to be done when the symptoms were over....she had two of these. Well now she has it again. The last time she had them was in Dec 2013. What can she do?
The symptoms of your mother seem to be related to shingles. Shingles are caused by a viral infection which can be treated by antiviral medications such as Acyclovir.
I suggest giving Acyclovir tablets three times a day. I also suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to relieve the pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
