How Should Bronchitis, Wheezing, Chest Tightness And Runny Nose Be Treated?

I have been on zpack for 3 days for bronchitis, im wheezing more than before and my chest feels tight. No fever, no sore throat, but my nose is very runny/stuffy. Do I need to give the antibiotic more time to work or do I need a steroid to help? Im not coughing alot but when I do I only get a little mucus up?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of allergic rhinitis and asthma is more likely.
Allergic rhinitis is causing running nose.
And asthma is causing chest tightness and wheezing.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
You will mostly improve with inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone).
Intranasal steroid spray (fluticasone) is helpful for running nose.
Oral combination of antihistamine (levocetrizine or fexofenadine) and anti allergic (montelukast) once a day at night is also beneficial.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
