How Should Misoprostol Be Taken Before A Hysteroscopy?

I m 54 years old. My doctor will do a hysteroscopy to take a biopsy because of postmenopausal bleeding. She prescribed misoprostol 200 mcg (2 tablets) 4 hrs. prior to the procedure. The medical assistance told me to take those tablets by mouth, but the pharmacist said vaginally. How should I take these 2 tablets?

It is best to insert the two tablets of Misoprostal high up in the vagina so that it will help in loosening of the cervix. You can take it by mouth also but that can cause nausea and vomiting.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
