How Much Pressure Will Labour Exert On The Torn Rib Muscle And Will It Damage Further?

I have torn rib muscles under my right breast, and I am also 31 weeks pregnant. My Doctor says it will take 6 to 8 weeks to heal. I am carrying a lot of extra amniotic fluid , and they think I will probably go into early labor due to my water breaking early. How much of a strain will this put on the muscles between my upper rib cage, and will labor cause more damage to the muscles?

Hi there .

Yes...definitely the labour process will strain the rib muscles .
Further damage will depend on the extent of the current tear.

I would suggest you to wear a rib belt to promote the healing of the muscles .
Wear the rib belt even during the labour process to put less strain on the muscles .

I hope my advice has helped .
Good luck .
