You should take folic acid during this period, and evaluate causes of the abortion. Reasons for the miscarriage could be genetic, uterine anomalies, infections, autoimmune conditions, hormone imbalance, or in your case - your age. Also, at this age, irregular cycles can be due to hormonal changes, stress, anxiety, thyroid disorders, endometrial lesions etc. Also, remember that after a miscarriage, it takes one or two cycles for periods to return to normal.
