How Long Will Epilim Stay In One S System?
My partner takes epilim for bi polar We would like to fall pregnant but led to believe the epilim would affect his sperm count How long will it stay in his system Will there be irreparable damage ? Can he just stop taking it or will there be withdrawal symptoms

Epilim is composed of 'sodium valproate', which is used for the treatment of epilepsy. It is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and the peak concentrations are attained by 1 to 2 hours after administration.
The half-life of Epilim is usually reported to be within the range 8 - 20 hours. It is metabolised in the liver and gets excreted through urine.
It is essential to taper and stop such anti-epileptic drugs and slowly switch over to other drugs which would serve the purpose.
