My son is one year old baby he was suffered from seizure disorder doctor suggested to use gardinal 30 mg tablet and he is using this medicene for past 9 months. Is there any side effects to that medicene and for how long he has to use this medicine
Brief answer: Duration of gardenal varies according to the cause of seizure.
Detailed answer: Hi, welcome to HCM. I have read your question and i know that you are very concerned about your child. Gardenal syrup is given as maintenance therapy in seizure. Duration of gardenal varies according to the cause of seizure and neurological assessment and development of child. Usually, a repeat EEG is done and if the EEG comes out to be normal with satisfactory neurological examination, then gardenal is tapered and then stopped. I hope this will help you. Wishing your child good health. If you have any more questions, i will be happy to help. Take care. Regards: Dr Deepak Patel, MD Pediatrics
