How Long Should Utrogestan Be Taken During Pregnancy?

Hi there. I ve been on Utrogestan for the last 4 weeks because of low progesterone levels. Im just over the 9 weeks pregnant now. My doctor stopped it yesterday? Does my placenta already take total care of it by now? Are nt I suppose to take it up until 12 weeks? I had 2 miscarriages in the last 9 months.

Hi, I have gone through your question. The progesterone support is given in the form of the tablets or injection. It should be continued up to 12 weeks of pregnancy, as then the progesterone secreted by placenta supports the fetus well.
If your doctor has suggested to stop progesterone, then your ultrasound must be showing well developed placenta and age appropriate fetus.
I would suggest you to discuss with your doctor the reason for stopping progesterone, and whether you can continue it to up to 12 weeks of pregnancy, if not contraindicated.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
