How Long Does Omnacortil Take To Treat Idiopathic Hypereosinophilic Syndrome?

I am of age 38 Yrs Female and since last 5 Yrs have been diagnosed as idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome. I don't have any history nor any family history of same - Asthma, Severe Allergy, Heart Problems and so on. But since diagnosed with HES, had multiple organ problem - GERD, Br Asthma, Nasal Polyps, Heart Blockade, APD. I did have severe Emotional Stress since 2005 leading to frequent Abdominal Pain, URTI, reflexes and Acidity. But now the stress is in control.

Presently, I am copletely depend on omnacortil and beyond 10 mg reoccurs all above stated problem. Though my AEC has come to 500 from 16,000 (in 2007). Would like to know the exact reason for increase in AEC and the said problem link. Is omnacrtil is the only solution? Will this be life long or possibility is there to recover?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome, most of the times, the cause is not known. Exposure to dust, drugs, insects, etc can cause this syndrome. Hypereosinophilic syndrome is a leukoproliferative disorder.
2. Avoiding exposure to allergen could reduce the eosinophil's. Identification of allergen is important.
3. Yes, you will need to take a corticorsteroid to suppress any immune response. You will need to take omnacortil, until a cause is identified. Increased eosinophils can cause severe lung damage and can also affect various organs.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
