How Long Does Sertraline Take To Treat Depression?

My son, 23-year-old, started taking Sertraline on 1/11, started at 25 mg for 7days and 50 mg after the 7th day.
His mood is still very low, especially in the morning. Dr. added Lorazepam .5 mg as needed twice a day, he tried not to take it.. Last Friday, he took 3 sleeping pills within 24-hour span to avoid waking up. I am fearful, worry he gets more depressed; however, also hope it was on the bottom and he is coming back up soon.
Q: how long does it take for Sertraline to take effect?

HI
Than for asking to HCM
It is in fact depend upon the patient's mental health how the patient react to the the treatment on conscious level, how much she willing to get out of this condition what is her own attitude towards her care taker, doctor , medicine, if these are favorable then it takes little time to come around and if these is not then it would be uncertain to say anything hope you can understand this, take care of her and have nice day.
