How Is Sharp Pain In The Calf Muscles Treated ?

Every now and then (once or twice in about 2-3 weeks) I get a sharp twinge in my calf muscles. Either leg. It only lasts for about 5-10 seconds and isn t cramp (I know how that feels). I am 45 and fairly fit and healthy. 5ft 10 and 13.5st. I exercise once or twice a week, non smoker and drink almost no alcohol and am fairly active. What could it it be?
