My father has COPD. He uses oxygen at night. He uses inhalers in the am He is living at an elevation around 2500 feet now. He wants to move in with my sister's family. They live in Gardnerville NV which is around 4700 feet. Is this safe for my father? His last ABG was ph 7.40, pco2 45, po2 72, Hco3 26. thank you.
well...... there's only so much air in the air and at 1 mile up, that amount decreases. The oxygen is a bit low, but the percent saturation of oxygen is probably at 90% or more (pretty ok). The move could be a real problem.
