How Can Weight Gain And Fatigue Be Treated?

I m a 77-year old woman diagnosed with Diabetes 2 in 2012. I am fairly healthy; however, I have been having trouble with some weight gain, and feeling very tired a lot of the times, with not much energy. Is lack of energy a side effect for most women and to be tolerated, or is there another statin out there for me? I prefer not to take anything drug; however, I have been told by my doctor that it is essential being Type 2 Diabetic. My cholesterol has lowered significantly since taking Atorvastatin.

Hi There

I Understand your concern.

I would like to tell you that people with diabetes are more likely than others to have Thyroid problem. If your Thyroid level is low , you are likely to feel
tired, lethargic and can gain weight.

High dose of statins can cause rhabdomyolysis and classic traid for rhabdomyolysis is
- Myalgias
- Generalized Weakness
- Dark Urine

It's recommended for you to get a Thyroid Profile,CBC, LFTs and PT done and consult with your Endocrinologist with reports for further management.

Hope this will help

Kind Regards
