How Can Severe Anxiety Be Treated?

I am a 41 year old female with diagnosed severe anxiety since I was 16 years old. I have been on several different kinds and milligram of benzodiapines since that time. I have recently stopped taking them all together and currently trying for something non narcatic for the anxiety that would help. I can't go without something all together because my anxiety causes me trouble in several areas of mg life if not treated. Any suggestions on medications I could talk to my doctor about?

1. As the problem affects several areas in your life, it could be classified as GAD [generalized anxiety disorder] and because you have chosen something non-narcotic for your problem thus in the Alternative system of medicine we have the following options which you can discuss with your attending physician or holistic doctor:

- Practice yoga, meditation, but also Pranayam [anulom vilom] which will strengthen the relaxation response of the body.
- Stretching Yoga poses like [Dhanurasana, Matsyasana, Janu Shirsasana, Paschimottanasana, Hastapadasana], hot shower and massage are simple techniques to overcome muscle tension from anxiety].
- Apple, almond, banana, broccoli, cantaloupe, melon, carrot, cashew nut, corn, cauliflower, grapes, guava, lemon, mango, orange, pineapple, soybean, spinach have antioxidant and detoxifying properties so take them in plenty.
- Prescription drugs and procedures available for your problems are: smriti sagar ras, mahakalyanak ghrita, manasmitra vatkam, prabhav vati, mann medhya vati,Ashwagandharishta, sarasvatarishta, stresscom, Nasya karma

2. under no circumstances you should stop/change/taper off the medicine without first consulting with your attending physician since he must be knowing about the withdrawal symptoms associated with abrupt stoppage of the drug or for any cross interaction between modern and holistic medicines
