Hello,

It is normal to get tenderness after manipulation on your scalp due to morphological aspect.

Now, alopecia areata is normally treated with steroid injection at the site of baldness. However, first should run skin scrapping examination with KOH 10% under microscope to rule out other skin pathologies.

Plus, applying minoxidil lotion can also help grow the hair back.

Discuss this further with your dermatologist.

All the best.
