How Can One Improve The Protein Level During Pregnancy?
My wife is pregnant and the child is due within next 20 days. Both mother and child are ok bt recently we have found that, she had infection. After going with several tests it was found that, she looses protein @ 5gm per day. she was injected human albumin nearly 160 gms bt again on tests the result were found same. no increase in protein level. kindly advice
Hi, To increase the protein level, give her high protein diet. Since she is losing protein significantly. it is difficult to achieve normal level. If it falls too low, your doctor will give protein in the drip. The cause needs to be treated. Loosing protein upto 5 GM per day during pregnancy is very concerning. Have your doctors found out the cause for this. Is her blood pressure normal. What about the results of her complete blood count, liver and renal function tests? How is the baby's growth? There is condition specifically affecting pregnancy called preeclampsia in which women shed protein in urine. It s important to look for it. If it is present, she may need to be delivered early. If there is no preeclampsia, consult Nephrologist to find out the cause for shedding protein in urine
