How Can Elevated Heart Rate Be Treated?

Hello Doctor, My husband is 36 years old had his resting heart beat rate is 99 per minute. Is this normal? He is on thyroid medication of 75 mcg for 10 years. He normally runs on trade mill for 20 to 30 min 3 to 4 days per week. Can you please advise how to reduce heart beat rate? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Good day and thank you for posting this question. A heart rate of 99 is still within the normal range. The normal range of heartbeat is between 60 to 100. But 99 for an athlete is rather on the high side. I will advice he goes and see his doctor to review his thyroid medication, and he can continue with his exercise. I hope it helps.
Thank you.
