High cholesterol, high liver function parameters. Due to not taking Lipitor or eating crab legs?

my doctor s office called and said my cholesterol and liver function was 244. I have been out of my Lipitor for about a week and did refill because of my upcoming appointment for my physical. Could that be the cause. Or the night before I had crab legs (high in cholesterol), What about my having a red dot in my left eye which the eye doctor said is not a blood vessel but if it didn t go away he would need to speak to my General Practioner because there could be another problem. The doctor is going to increase the dose of Lipitor. I only spoke to the nurse but What do you think is the problem and what course of action should I be taking.

Welcome to HCM,
If you have deranged lipid profile and you take Statin for keeping it to normal level.
Please take care of your diet for saturated fats and animal fats.
You must not take this drug irregularly as it can increase your cholesterol level, please keep sufficient stock of the drug.
One of the reason to get high cholesterol may be not taking your drug,so tell your doctor that you have missed the drug for 1 week so he can decide to continue same dose or increase the dose.
Red dot in eye may be subconjunctival hemorrhage or some other pigmentation for which you have to see your doctor.
Take regular walking 3-4 km/day and take care of your diet.
If your liver function are also abnormal? it is not clear to me what are enzymes level.
Please take care
Good Luck

Hello, niseejm,
Your cholesterol level is high (Total) , but you need to know how
much was HDL and how much was LDL which is the bad one.
If your HDL (Good cholesterol) is high, that is good.
I am not sure about the results of your liver tests.
Were all the enzymes high, like SGPT,SGOT,ALT etc ?
If your liver tests are abnormal, Lipitor may make it worse.
If the blood was drawn the next day after a rich meal like
crab legs with butter etc, yes, your cholesterol level could be
elevated because of that.
Discuss these with your doctor.
I wish you well.
