Headache, Heaviness, Throbbing, Giddiness, Nausea. What Do You Think?

I have experienced headaches since last year but the frequency has increased from being once every few months to a few times per day and there is this persistent heaviness and uncomfortable throbbing feeling at the front of my head. I also feel giddy and nausea but my doctor wants me to see a specialist. Is it really just a passing headache or should I go along with what he says. It may just be to suck money out of patients and I don't want to waste money if he is just exaggerating. What do you think?

Neurologist 's  Response

Hello,

Thanks for the query,

I understand your concern

Let me tell you that headache can be due to many causes and it can be due to migraine, tension headache, brain tumor/infection/bleed etc. I will request you to get evaluated by a neurologist who will examine you and help you through evaluation including a brain scan if needed. I feel that you have migraine headache and you will improve with anti-migraine medications. Medications that will help you are amitriptiline, topiramate, valproate, propranolol etc for chronic use and for acute attack, medications that will help are analgesics like ibuprofen, indomethacin etc. You need to have a regular food and sleep habit too.

Best wishes
