Head Injury, Turning Purple. Used Arnica Cream. Should I Worry? Look For Any Symptoms To Come?

My son hit his head over a month ago now, he was swinging and went head first into the tiled bathroom wall! I didn't know anything was wrong as he never called for me...because he was doing something I would of put a stop to! When he sat down for dinner, covered by his long fringe, I noticed on profile a huge ...really huge egg on his forehead that was slowing turning purple! I was shocked and immediately put some arnica cream on it, he said he felt totally fine and not wanting to overact didn't rush to A&E despite wanting too! I felt his forehead over a week ago now and I'm really worried he fractured his forehead as there is a very definite ridge where he had the egg? What should I do now and what are the symptoms of a fracture like this and can a doctor help at this late stage?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for the query
I understand your concern
I feel that your son requires a medical evaluation including a detailed local examination of that area. I feel that it would be local swelling which will improve with time. A scan will identify the fracture.
Please get back if you need any additional information
