Having Unilateral Ptosis, Hyperopia, & Amblyopia. Also Have Allergies. On Soft Steroids Now. Noticing More Drooping Of The Ptotic Eye. Is It Due To GPS?
My son had very slight unilateral ptosis from birth. He then was diagnosed with hyperopia, amblyopia and corrected to 20/20 with vision therapy and rgps from age five. Safe to say he is a long term contact lense wearer. He also has seasonal allergies. He has done a five year course of allergy immunotherapy which concluded last year. Bad pollen season here this spring and diagnosed GPC, his eye doctor gave him soft steroids to use for the initial week. I am just noticing more drooping of the ptotic eye during this and while I imagine it is due to the gpc wanted to make sure! Of course as I write I feel I am answering my own question!
You should go for a orthoptic checkup in a good orthoptic clinic so that a baseline for ptosis error can be drawn. Surgery if any needed for ptosis may be undertaken.
For GPC, you will have to use the prescribed steroids and in my opinion the use of steroids should not affect the ptosis error. Most likely there might be some swelling in the lids affected by conjunctivitis that may appear as increases ptosis to you.
