Have Lump On Shoulder Above Armpit, Getting Larger. Is This Probably A Lipoma?
I have a lump on the front of my shoulder just above my armpit crease. It has been there for about 7 years and just recently I think it may be getting larger. It is very soft and palpable and moves around. Is this probably a lipoma. It now seems to be at least 5cm around.
Hi, After reading your query I can make two possibilites:
1. Lipoma: It is a collection of fatty tissue under the skin.
2. Sebaceous cyst: It is a collection of cheezy material in the over proliferated sebaceous gland.
As it is present form last 7 years so any of the possibility can be there. But over all bot are simple benign swelling which never case any problem any time. You can meet a surgeon preferably and can get it excised. Excision is a simple procedure which takes just few minute.
DO remember to get it analyzed histo-pathologically after the excision of the lump. DO not try to squeeze or pinch or pop the area.
Take care.
