HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Mucus is normally secreted by the intestines though some situations could result in an increased production.

Any inflammation or infection of the bowel can result with an increase in mucus production.

Colonic cancer can present abdominal pain, loss of appetite, change in bowel habits, vomiting, blood in the stool.

The presence of the mucus does not necessarily indicate any malignancy but if you are experiencing additional symptoms or you are above the screening age , then you can speak to your doctor.
He or she can arrange for a screening investigation to be done.

I hope this helps
