Have Bad Odor In Vagina. Is It Smegma? Cure?

Hi doctor, I m a 13 year old girl, and I ve been experiencing this fishy odor in my vagina for quite some time now. I got tested for any possible infections by my OBGYN , but they couldn t seem to find anything. This confused me because I was sure that the odor had to be coming from something. Then I did some research and found out I have smegma. I m keeping up with my daily hygiene , washing my vagina daily, but even though the build up of smegma is starting to lack, the smell is still very strong, and I am really bothered by it. I have a fear that the smell will stay, because I have been trying to wash out my vagina constantly, but it keeps coming back. Is there anything you can suggest that will get rid of the smell? Thank you!

Hello
Smegma is a collection of dead cells , oil and sebum on the skin, particularly in the crevices, near the clitoris etc.
You have already been tested for infections, so I do not think you need to freak out about it.
Regarding the odour, it should not be too strong to bother you, if there is no infection.
Normal vaginal discharges also have a slightly fishy smell, so if the doctor has reassured you, do not excessively clean, douche or rub the private parts.
You would only wipe off normal " good " bacteria of the vagina, thereby leading to more infections.
Do not constantly keep washing the area.
Keep it clean and dry.
Avoid excessive moisture, do not use medicated / perfumed products locally.
Try and give yourself some breathing space.
take care.
