Has Fits. On Treatment. Reduced Quantity Of Medication As Recommended And Had Fits Attack. Suggestions?

HI,
My younger brother who is aged about 17yrs, is suffering from Fits disease, from past 7-8 yrs. He was undergoing treatment in St John's Medical Hospital.

He used to have tablets on daily basis, after so many yrs of treatment, as his doctor recommended he reduced the quantity of intake of tablet for a day. After this suddenly he got a fits attack.

What do you recommend us, should we go ahead with the same treatment, or start a new treatment in a different hospital?

For your information he was having Tab Lobazam.

Thanks & Regards.

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

Lobazam (clobazam) is a good medicine for epilepsy, however, may not be good enough when used alone without any other drugs.

Also, the EEG should be done before any decision is taken regarding reducing the dose or changing the medications.

If in Bangalore, you can take second opinion from Dr P. Satishchandra (HOD, NIMHANS) or Dr Murali S. (Manipal Hospital).

Please get back if you require any additional information.

Best wishes,
