Had Chest Pain. Took ER, EKG, X-ray, Everything Normal. Suggested A Gallbladder Sonogram. Suggestions?

I have chest pain. Shortness of breath, feels congested, I went to ER and had a EKG, Chest Xray, checked my blood for clots. Everything was fine. The ER Doctor said to see my physician because it sounded like I may need a Gallbladder Sonogram and that I needed to go through my doctor. My doctor ordered the test and I am waiting for my appointment. I feel as if I have been overlooked. Could it be something else than my gallbladder.

Hello,
Welcome at HCM.

I have read your question.

I am agree with diagnosis of your doctor. He looks to be an experienced one.Gall stone problem or inflammation of gall bladder may some lead to gastritis or inflammation of lining of stomach which may present with such symptoms.
Your symptoms are also suggestive of gastritis which may be ramification of symptoms of gall bladder disease.

Hope this will help you.

With best wishes.

General & Family Physician Dr. Michelle Gibson James's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Chest pain can be caused by any structure in the chest from the skin inwards.

Muscles - inflammation of the muscles can result on pain- this may would be worse on movement in particular direction

Bones- pain may also occur as a result of inflammation or trauma to the bones in the chest. This includes the ribs and sternum. There is a condition where there is inflammation of areas where the ribs attach to the sternum. This is called costochondritis and can cause severe pain which is worse on movement.

Heart pain is usually worse on activity and relieved by rest. It is central and can be tight or heavy sensation. If the tests were normal then it is unlikely that you have heart tissues. ECG would have shown any abnormal rhythm , rate, enlargement of the heart , any area of reduced blood supply.

Anxiety can also cause chest pain and shortness of breath.

If the ultrasound is normal then your doctor may suggest other tests to determine the cause of your pain.

I hope this helps
